Glacier National Park - Avalanche Lake Hike

I had the chance to work remote and live in Montana near Glacier National Park for a little over 2 weeks in October of 2020. We experienced the seasons change from Fall to Winter almost overnight. I didn’t get to hike to Avalanche Lake until the end of my trip when it had become Winter. As you can see, I was completely bundled up (wished I had more layers to cover my face) and the trail and lake was covered in fresh snow.

Due to the time we visited Glacier National Park, only the Western side was open and Avalanche was the furthest you could drive into the park. It’s an easy hike with very little elevation so it’s good for all skill levels. You can park at the lot right in front of Trail of the Cedars, the trailhead. Round trip is about 4.5 miles, which should take 2-3 hours.
